On Creationism and What Truth Lies Behind the Concept

First of, let me just clarify that I believe in evolution, do not believe in a god of any sort or anything supernatural for that matter.  I do not even believe in a soul.  I believe in the scientific universe and the idea that when we die, our existence both spiritual and, especially, physical diminishes into nothing.

What evolution explains, it explains it very well and accurately - it only makes logical sense that life is really the result of universal entropy.  Now as to how it really began, there are numerous theories, my favorite being the Primordial Soup theory, and they offer plausible and believable explanations.  But it does not matter how life started, only how it progressed to where we are today, cognitive, sentient, and complex - that is what evolution explains.

Yet that is exactly where creationism, as a concept and not this religious speculation that a supernatural being willingly conjured up life forms the way they are now and gave them a planet to live on, actually does ask questions worth pondering.  At a certain point, the laws of the universe must have been created; and if we look at the universal laws not as what they are but instead as why they are, we cannot logically derive them from anything.  This is because logic can only ever be a means, never a beginning nor an end.

Think of gravity, a universal law. It makes no logical sense. There is no scientific reason for objects to physically attract other objects.

Think of electromagnetism.  Why do opposites charges attract and same charges repel? We cannot comprehend why, because the way we view the universe only permits us to think within the confines of the universal laws.

So at some point, the entire universe must have been created.  For those who argue the big bang theory, the universal singularity must have been created too.

But as long as we exist within the four dimensions and abide by its operating laws, it is doubtful anyone can truly comprehend outside the universe.  The box is just too big.
